Fashion Group International named the finalists for their Rising Star Awards, which will take place at Cipriani later this month. They include New York–based labels like Nahm, Wes Gordon, and Jolibe — also one of the inaugural tenants at the CFDA Fashion Incubator.
No cash prize is specified, but we’re sure the party at Cipriani, with Ralph Rucci presenting awards and Ruben and Isabel Toledo as keynote speakers, will be rewarding in itself.
Meanwhile, Ecco Domani named the seven winners of their $25,000 Fashion Foundation grants.
In the past, the wine company has supported household names like Zac Posen, Alexander Wang, and rag & bone. This year, their globally diverse list — chosen by judges like Sally Singer, Julie Gilhart, and Kim Hastreiter — includes not-so-familiar names like Correll Correll, Eighteenth, Haus Alkire, and Sunhee in the womenswear category, and Tim Coppens for menswear.
A little who’s who from WWD:
German-born twin sisters Daphne and Vera Correll joined forces to form their label Correll Correll in 2006. Now in its fifth season, Eighteenth is designed by Alexa Galler, a native of Atlantic City, who focuses on asymmetric silhouettes. Haus Alkire is a partnership between Julie Haus, who handles garment design, merchandising and textile procurement, and Jason Alkire, who focuses on the colors and custom prints for each collection. Sunhee, born in Seoul, launched her self-titled line for fall 2011.
